Jan. 29 • Seminar at Gulf Coast Plastic Surgery
6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, Gulf Coast Plastic Surgery, 543 Fontaine St., Pensacola. An evening of insights into the latest trends and advances in cosmetic enhancements. Dr. Peter Butler and Dr. Jocelyn Leveque will discuss a variety of treatments and procedures, with a focus on body contouring after major weight loss. Feb. 1 • Baptist Health Care Takes Prevention for Women to Heart
Baptist Heart and Vascular Care have teamed up with Cardiology Consultants, Belk and the American Heart Association to host the 2008 Wear Red Day, Feb. 1, to educate women on both risk factors and signs and symptoms of cardiovascular disease. Wear Red Day 2008 will take place at the entrance to Belk in Cordova Mall.

Activities include free heart risk assessments from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 to 6 p.m. Assessments include a family history review, non-fasting total cholesterol check and blood pressure check. Individual results will be mailed to participants approximately three weeks after the screening. Women who participate in the screenings at this free preventative health event will be eligible for special discounts and door prizes courtesy of Belk. In addition, educational booths will offer information on heart disease prevention and treatment. Baptist will be providing additional heart risk assessment screenings throughout the February. According to the American Heart Association, heart disease remains the No. 1 killer of American women. One in 30 women dies of breast cancer and one in three women dies of heart disease. However, only 13 percent of women view heart disease as a health threat.

Additionally, 64 percent of women who died suddenly of coronary heart disease had no previous symptoms. Details: Visit www.ebaptisthealthcare.org for additional dates, times and locations.

Feb. 15 • Women Inspired Spring Series
Women Inspired has planned a Spring Series of Conferences “Living Well’’ on Feb. 15 and “Living From Greatness’’ on April 25. The Feb. 15 event will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at New World Landing in downtown Pensacola. The day will feature a dynamic talk titled “Vitamins For The Soul’’ as well as tips on living well titled “Vibrant Living’’ by Kerry Sise, mental health specialist and founder. Erica Thomas, a local gourmet chef and restaurant owner, will share her cooking expertise. Constance Soutullo will highlight how to use colors positively in our lives. Sandra Sanford will teach an interactive yoga class, showcasing the benefits for women. Green Tree Arts will feature art handmade by women from villages all over the world. Feb. 10 • Valentine’s “Share The Love’’ Thai Massage
4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, Breathe Yoga Studio, 503 Adams St., Pensacola. Licensed massage therapist Tara Thrasher will be your guide in this fun, “hands-on’’ workshop celebrating Valentine’s Day on from you and your loved one will learn (by giving and receiving) easy, effective massage techniques in the ancient healing art of Thai yoga massage. A great way for couples to connect, but also a wonderful way to share special time with a family member, friend, or significant other. Hot Chai Tea and chocolate goodies will make this event extra special. Wear comfortable clothes that will allow you to move freely throughout the workshop. Cost: $85 (per “couple”). March 12 • Flash N' Fashion fundraiser
Doors open 10:30 a.m., lunch at noon and fashion show at 1 p.m., at the Mustin Beach Officers’ Club. Gulf Isle Neighbors will host its annual fundraiser benefiting the Zoo of Northwest Florida and the Salvation Army. Fashions will be presented by Brenda Carraway of Fashion Connection. Door prizes, raffles and 50/25/25 will be included. A wonderful assortment of gift baskets will also be raffled to benefit charities. The cost is $25 per person. March 5 • Annual Art of Fashion
11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 5, at New World Landing. This “Kentucky Derby” themed luncheon features a runway fashion show, live art auction, and a silent auction of hats designed by local artists and celebrities. Nina Fritz, Lisa Kirkman and Quenby Tilley are local artists who have contributed their talent to the third annual Art of Fashion event. The runway fashion show will feature casual, career and evening wear for both men and women.

Local stores participating in the event include Don Alans, The Fashion Connection, Lee Tracy, Marisa’s Boutique and Randall’s Formal Wear. Tickets for the Art of Fashion are $35 per person.
