Reboot Retreat

R

eboot & Co. of Pensacola has completed two successful, sold-out wellness retreats and is back with a third one on Oct. 6-9 at Oyster Bay Hotel in downtown Pensacola. As with the previous retreats, the experience is based on the four pillars of plant-based nutrition, detox and rejuvenation, mindful living and fitness.

The goal is also to promote Pensacola and the many health and wellness providers in the area while providing attendees a weekend to slow down and learn about health practices that they can carry forward.

“We’re promoting Pensacola as well as wellness,” said Addie Murdoch of Reboot and Co. “We have some local repeat attendees coming and then we have some new people that we’ve met along our travels and through our nationwide marketing.”

Attendees will check in at Oyster Bay on the Thursday of the retreat starting at 2 p.m., meet with a nurse, get introduced to each other and the purveyors, have dinner and practice yoga.

“When you check into our retreat you meet with a nurse practitioner and she does a whole evaluation and you can have bloodwork done and you can do DNA testing,” Murdoch said. “And then on Sunday, she does a debrief of what you’ve accomplished over the weekend and what the results are of your bloodwork and what you need to do.”

In addition to the many activities included in the retreat price, there are some á la carte options such as having bloodwork done at the beginning of the weekend and there are IV drips available throughout the weekend.

Friday, Saturday and half of Sunday are then filled with stretching, yoga, nutrition, surfing, ice baths, massages, spin classes, meals, sound baths, boxing and much more.

For the returning customers, they are making sure to change things up a bit.

“We’re bringing a DJ in for the weekend. So, he’s not only going to be doing a couple of sets during a couple of our exercising events but he’s actually going to be doing the retreat as a guest as well. And then we’re bringing in a very well renowned chiropractor from San Diego that adjusts most of the Navy SEALs. She used to live in Pensacola for many years and has since moved back to San Diego.”

On both Saturday and Sunday, there will be ice bath sessions. Ice baths have been popularized by Wim Hof who says that, “Frequent exposure to cold is linked to a number of different health benefits. For example, scientists have found evidence that exposure to cold speeds up metabolism. Another benefit of exposing your body to cold is that it reduces inflammation, swelling and sore muscles.”

Murdoch explained the DJ will be a fun part of the ice baths.

“Of course, we’re going to have cryotherapy ice baths like we did last time,” she said. “But we’re going to do that with a DJ to make it fun and help to keep your mind off the fact that you’re climbing into the ice water.”

In addition to the four-day retreat, Reboot has added “October Hunter’s Full Moon Dinner and Restorative Yoga Event” on Sunday, Oct. 9, after the end of the Reboot Retreat.

“We’ve added an event on Sunday night and we are collaborating with Donna Dickey with Yoga Abode and we’re going to do a full moon mini-retreat that is from five to nine that evening,” Murdoch said. “We’re going to do mock cocktails and then a meet-and-greet, then we’ll do a three-course, farm-to-table dinner underneath the café lights at Oyster Bay Hotel, and then we’ll have restorative yoga under the full moon.”

Space is still available for the retreat and the full moon event. The retreat single-occupancy cost is $4000, the full moon event is $175 and more information is available at rebootandco.com.
