Pensacola is turning vibrant pink for a cause that touches us all. The American Cancer Society is bringing the nation’s largest and most impactful breast cancer movement to Community Maritime Park on Saturday, Oct. 31. Whether you are walking in honor of a loved one, celebrating your own survival story or stepping up to support future generations, every step counts.

Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among women in the United States, with one in eight women facing a diagnosis in their lifetime. The Making Strides movement brings together survivors, thrivers living with metastatic breast cancer, caregivers, and community members to show that no one faces this journey alone.

This year, Pensacola’s Making Strides event has set an ambitious goal to raise $250,000. These funds directly power the American Cancer Society’s mission to fund groundbreaking research, provide 24/7 support helplines, offer free rides to treatment and arrange lodging for patients traveling for care.

Historically, this movement has helped fund research leading to game-changing treatments like tamoxifen and Herceptin, contributing to a remarkable 44% decline in breast cancer death rates over recent decades.

“Through Making Strides, we are funding critical research and life-saving programs that will ensure a brighter future for everyone who is impacted by breast cancer,” said event chair Lizzy Mabry.
