When it comes to fighting breast cancer, early detection is the single most powerful tool available. Yet, for many uninsured and underinsured individuals in Northwest Florida, accessing routine and potentially life-saving screenings can feel financially out of reach. That is where the Pensacola Breast Cancer Association steps in.

Guided by its core mission: “Giving Help, Giving Hope,” the PBCA is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer education, screening and diagnosis across the Florida Panhandle. Every dollar raised directly supports neighbors in need, ensuring that financial hardship never stands between a patient and a mammogram.

Community Resources and Partners

The PBCA works by partnering directly with health care organizations and community programs to provide free diagnostic care and compassionate support services.

Free mammogram programs: Funds raised by the PBCA are donated to local nonprofit medical facilities to cover screening and diagnostic mammograms for underinsured and uninsured patients, including women and men.

Wig and mastectomy bra program: In partnership with The Boobie Boutique and Wellness, PBCA provides wigs, mastectomy bras and specialized prosthetics at no cost to patients undergoing treatment or facing financial hardship following surgery. Patients can schedule a private fitting with a fellow survivor by calling 850-384-0288 or emailing pcolabreastfriends@gmail.com.

Sisterhood in Strength: A monthly peer-support group held on the fourth Friday of every month, offering a safe space for patients and survivors to connect.

Holistic and Recovery Partners: PBCA collaborates with community allies including the Center for Independent Living of Northwest Florida, Blue Meridian Acupuncture & Wellness and Living the Ribbon Life, which provides post-oncology fitness services.

Baptist Health Care Foundation: Call 850-908-7500 (ext. 1) and mention the Foundation Mammogram Program.

Community Health Northwest Florida: Call 850-436-4630 and request the Foundation Mammogram Program.

Benefactors and Sponsors

The PBCA’s work is made possible by local businesses, civic partners and donors.

Among its supporters is Anderson Subaru, which has partnered with the organization for more than a decade. Through its community initiatives, Anderson Subaru has contributed more than $264,000 to the PBCA — funds that translate into educational resources and mammograms for Panhandle residents.

In addition to partners like Anderson Subaru, the PBCA relies on grassroots donations, corporate sponsorships and volunteer support from across Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.
